Bath Bomb!

Bath bomb is one of our favorite bath time activities because we are huge fans of LUSH bath bombs especially their Intergalactic scent but since they are so expensive, we make our own every now and then.

The kids love customizing their own bath bombs. They choose their favorite scents and pick their surprise toy inside.

Ingredients:

1 cup baking soda

1/2 cup citric acid

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup Epsom salt

3/4 tsp isopropyl alcohol

1 tsp coconut oil

essential oils

bath bomb molds

food coloring

Procedure:

1. Combine all the dry ingredients together: mix the baking soda, salt, citric acid, cornstarch together using a whisk or a wooden spoon.

2. Divide the mixture into 3 or 4 small bowls depending on how many colors you want to make.

3. Mix coconut oil with your choice of essential oils and slowly add into the dry mixture. Continue stirring to avoid the mixture from fizzing.

4. Add a few drops of different food coloring on each bowl.

5. Add alcohol a few drops at a time until you reach the right consistency. The mixture should not be too dry nor too wet, it should hold it’s shape when packed.

6. Ready to put in the mold. Put a surprise toy inside if you like.

7. Leave for 8 hours or until completely dry. Bath bombs are ready to play!

The fizzy show is actually a chemical reaction caused by the sodium bicarbonate in the bomb reacting with the citric acid hence releasing carbon dioxide gas. The cornstarch helps slow down the chemical reaction, and the coconut oil moisturizes our skin.

Hope you like it!
